Yabusame

"Yabusame" (流鏑馬) is a traditional style of Japanese archery. The archer shoots a special "turnip-headed" arrow at a wooden target.



These photos were taken at Nikko Toshogu.



Yabusame is held on every May and October In Nikko Toshogu.

Unganji

Unganji (雲厳寺) is a temple of Rinzai-shu Myoshinji-ha (臨済宗妙心寺派), built in 1283. This is one of the four major dojo of Zenshu (禅宗) in Japan. Matsuo Basho the most famous poet of the Edo period in Japan also visited here.

Hannya

We designed a new image called "Hannya" (般若), means "Prajna" in Sanskrit.

This scary mask is created for "Noh" (能), a Japanese traditional performing arts. The mask expressed as a curse of a woman. However, in the Noh stage, she realizes many things and acquires wisdom by teachings of Buddhism.

"Hannya" means wisdom which is different from knowledge.
